The U.S. just put 4 or so new bases there. Meanwhile billionairs in the know are building mega bunkers in Hawaii and New Zealand. China wants the Philippines. They won't stop at Taiwan.

I don't like Filipino food, ate breakfast one morning at Under ground resturant in Dumaguete, when I looked at the late I saw a large piece of egg shell on the egg, I informed the waitress she took my plate to the back came back and the shell was gone, it's obvious she removed the egg shell rather than frying anothe egg. I never went back to that resturant.

How can you be a picky eater, the Filipino food is terrible, I've been to many Filipino resturants, the food is unsanitary, flies, roaches, rats crawling everywhere, as an expat I usually get diarhea twice a month, I only eta packaged foods until I go back to the USA.

The order cannot be messed up when I go to the kiosk and punch in the order myself. However, they can mess up preparing it. I am fortunate that they have never messed up preparing it (probably because I get standard items, no special requests).

Steve, great advice, I will have to get the book sometime to read. However, I am not moving to the Philippines to get away from people but moving for the cost of living.

Steve, I am highly disappointed, you are telling me that it won't be all rainbows, puppy dogs, and unicorns. Sorry, I could not resist. Everyone needs to remember that the first few weeks will be exciting, but the reality will set in and that is when you will know if the Philippines 🇵🇭 is for you.

Steve: Ex-Mcdonald's Licensee Supervisor here. In the US, I don't do "Grills" or "Special Orders" at any Fast Food Restaurant. I only order items as they normally come. That, to me is the best way not to get my Order messed up. Before I used App ordering, 1 in 4 of my orders would be taken incorrectly. Then 1 in 10 would be filled incorrectly. I expect Fast Food will be just as incompetent in the Philippines, in different ways.

Hello, I have only been here two months. 1. My wife is very picky and washes all items bought at grocery stores, including S & M/ S& R and landers. 2. Eating at a restaurants is like eating a “mystery Stew” for an example, you order a hamburger and has a different taste; than what you are expecting: I think that’s great. 3. So far I have learned; “what do you have available on the menu today (after sorry sir 3-4 times not available today) 4. So far it has been wonderfully journey. I have music in the morning that wakes me up our apartment ( heavy machinery next door building a high rise) and the floor above major renovations - jack hammer from 10am to 2pm. So we just leave for most of the day. Welcome to the Philippines, but so far wouldn’t change any of the experiences Cheers! Andrew

I have a friend/former co-worker that hardly a day goes by that he does not blow-up (over nothing). He gets mad at God, that he has no children (in his 40’s now). I keep telling him that kids are expensive and despite having a degree, he works for tips. I can imagine a child would get kicked out of pre-k. Maybe, I’m the only friend that tries to keep him calm when most avoid him or make fun because he has no kids and or works for tips.

There is freedom of speech by constitution if someone wants to boast about their Fortune they should be able to, without being critized by vloggers.

In the UK, 'blowing up' is pretty much regarded as a sign of weakness and that the person does not know how to deal with situations they find themselves in. Steve our $2billion company where I am on engineering teams has required training in this! We each had to go thru questionnaires to identify our personality “color” strengths and guess that of others for team building. its no joke😮. It works to understand others. We all have the 4 color blocks stacked in order of our tendencies on our desks. Mine: Blue”get it right”, Red “do it now”,Green”in a caring way”, yellow ”Make it fun” Can you tell im an engineer? 😂

Hi Steve, if you're really into reading, then you might enjoy a Pulitzer prize winning book entitled: "A Confederacy Of Dunces", by John Kennedy Toole. It's humorous, & if you read it, you may recognise the story's characters in other people. 🤠🍻👍🏻

I seldom eat meat anymore; I remember when (even if I were blind, I would know that I was in the meat section of the grocery store; the smells of uncovered meats; flies and no apparent ice. I don’t know if the supermarkets are still like this or not?

I'm in Marinduque and there are no Western Fast Food Chains, not even a Jollibee which I dislike but there are some great pizzerias here. I'm like you I'm not a fan of Filipino food but I didn't come here for the food. I came here for retirement and a relationship. They eat a lot of port and seafood here and not a lot of vegetables so I've had to work around that.

I am a very picky eater as well, I eat zero fish/anything from the water, I eat limited veggies and fruits. I am a huge USDA beef Eater and thank goodness I found a USDA Supplier here in Dumaguete. I only like 3 Filipino dishes so do not eat much of the local foods. Only thing here in Duma as far US reaturant foods is KFC and McDonalds. I have found Goerg's Steakhouse at Mango Ranch here, he serves USDA beef only and the other foods at great. Also found La Mensa Itailian Resturant that serves USDA beef. But I spend a lot of time at Georg's. The Intl store Belcris has a good choice of American foods, and you can request foods as well if they can get them she will. I did this with Dr. Pepper, I get 3 to 5 cases a month or 2 plus a few other foods I requested. I am hoping very soon more American style resturants come to Duma soon. Love it here but the food, as for me, is not very good. I would move to South of Manila like you but I like smaller cities not close to an actiive volcano lol, so it is a catch 22 for me. I did just learn that a Texas Roadhouse was opened up in Balcod, so 5 hour drive and I can eat there, as well as Cebu with there American resturants.

There's a problem being a clean freak. Sometimes you have to eat off the floor to keep your immunity up. Theres a reason the Filipino's don't get sick. I came across a video about pagpag, dumpster diving food cooked to kill bacteria, germs. I thought it was something sold the market.

A lot of double dead meat around….in the market all day in the sun..Then it’s taken out and displayed the next day in the sun …the only time l have ever been food poisoned is in the Phillipines
